MY STORY

My name is Kaitlyn Snider, I am a graduating Senior Honors student at Texas Christian University. I am pursuing a BFA in Interior Design and a Minor in Architectural Lighting Design with a focus in theater/stage/film lighting. I intend to graduate in May 2024, work professionally for a year, then pursue a Master of Business Administration.

I am from Virginia beach, VA. I grew up with a passion and affinity for art and design, and upon High School graduation, chose to take my love for creativity into my future career. While in my tertiary education experience, I discovered my love for lighting and film, and I hope to continue the study of lighting, design, and programming within production lighting, and production design for stage, theater, and film, after my graduation.

To speak to my tenacious and diligent work ethic, I have completed 4 design internships, and am currently interning as an architect intern at OTJ Architects, and a Production Assistant for Paramount Global. In 2022, I started an art business. I create custom commissions, mostly 21st birthday signs, hand-painted graduation/birthday bottles, and personalized house illustrations , for other students and families within the DFW area. I hope to continue this on the side and expand to different areas and audiences. The below button is a link to a news story TCU did on my business.

VISUALIZE IT

I tend to have lots of ideas within my mind, so visualizing and creating clear concepts and imagery are key. I utilize lots of concept mapping, research, hand drawings, and very detailed renderings to portray what I see in my mind onto paper for the viewer.

EXECUTE IT

Executing my ideas tends to be an event in itself. Making sure each small detail that I am seeing in my mind is translated in the visual. As I move forward, I am taking my renderings to a grander scale with more realistic visuals and animation to truly be able to one day make the projects a reality.

MY APPROACH

I believe that the success of a design lies within the details. I start with an idea, a single word or image, and develop my concept from there with extensive research in every possible direction. I create a full body, immersive experience for the user. Every decision is intentional and strategic. Throughout my work, I try to highlight the small but might choices that I make. Afterall, "The details are not the details, they make the design." - Walt Disney
